Having a Great Day Shooting 115!

Hey, be sure to stop by Intel Dump today. Phil Carter has some fantastic links and insight into the Iraq situation.

I have neglected to write about my love of golf! Now you must understand that I am not very good. I am routinely shooting between 110 and 120 on a par 72. For those of you who don't play golf that's not too great, but I still have a fantastic time doing it and when I get done I wish I could do more.

You would think there aren't very many places to play in NYC, but as a matter of fact there are. My favorite three courses are Pelham, Split Rock, and Van Cortland (which are all in the Bronx). The best course I have ever played is Newcastle in Seattle, WA. The group of about 6 or so guys that I play with are great company for the four hours it takes to play, and they don't give unsolicited advice about how to swing, putt, pitch, or drive. My clubs are Taylor Made 320 series with a Taylor Made 9.5 degree driver. My dad got them for me used at Christmas in 2002 and next to my guitar they are one of the best gifts I have ever recieved from a parent (my mom bought the guitar so she wins). And then of course I have all Nike golf gear since I am new to the game. In case you don't know you can tell how long someone has been playing golf by the amount of Nike paraphanalia they have. The shorter the time, the more Nike stuff. The longer a person has been playing golf, the more you will see Titleist, Calloway, Pinnacle etc. My goal this golfing season is to break 100 once which means I will need to play a lot of golf, and that's not a bad thing!

I have an ongoing debate with someone who thinks that golf is not a sport but is instead a game. I maintain that golf is definitely a sport and I will put forth that argument on a later date. I would rather watch golf on TV than baseball and there are tons of reasons why I think that baseball is boring. Although I really do enjoy going to the games, but unless it's the playoffs or the game is chopped up into 20 second segments on Sportscenter it's boring.
