We Are the World
The blog has been a little dead lately. I have some stuff rolling around in the noggin, but I am not really ready to put anything out there yet.
I have been working on the media presentation for church on Sunday. This particular week we are celebrating our diversity at church by having an International Sunday. Manhattan Church is an absolutely amazing place for diversity. So far we have thirty countries that will be represented on Sunday. All this from a church of no more than 400 members! Our diversity is due in large part to being in New York City, truly the greatest city in the world. However it's the nature of Christ and the church that binds all of these people together. It is such a wonderful blessing to get to live and work here, sometimes Allison and I feel like we should pinch ourselves to wake up. Here is the list of all the nations that will be represented on Sunday:
Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia , Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Republic of the Philippines, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, United States, Honduras, India, Australia, Nigeria , Hong Kong , China, South Korea, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, St. Kitts and Nevis…and counting!
Time For Randomness:
1. I love American Idol. What a great show. As far as reality T.V. goes I really respect that they haven't resorted to looking backstage for the backstabbing. It's all about music and performing, it deserves all the success it gets. I have downloaded "A Change Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke and "A Song for You" by Donny Hathaway. Let me tell you these songs will BLOW YOUR MIND! I think that Elliot Yamin's rendition of the Donny Hathaway song will be a performance I will never forget (along with Fantasia Barrino's "Summertime" performance). My pick you ask? I really want Taylor Hicks to win, but I think Katharine McPhee is the one to beat. She is the total package of looks, presence, talent, and mold-ability!
2. Anybody out there seen "BRICK"? It's only playing in one theater here in Manhattan so it's kind of hard to get to. Interested in any reviews, but please, no spoilers.
3. "United 93" is getting a stunning response here in the city. It opened the Tribeca Film Festival, and after reading and listening to some critics I feel almost bound by duty to see this film. I recommend listening to Ebert and Roper's review (click here then scroll). It will be hard, hard, hard for me to see this movie. Put aside the fact that I hate to fly, but just watching the trailer brought back the feelings that I had on that horrible day.
4. I would like to recommend a truly ingenious way to keep your DVD collection stocked with completely fresh titles. There is a service called "PeerFlix that is completely AWESOME. I won't explain how it works, just go to the site, sign up, and finally unload that copy of "Footloose" that you bought for $9.99 at Wal-Mart and trade it for....whatever you want!
5. Finally, Levi has a new little video that I made from footage of our trip to Seattle. You have to have the latest version of QuickTime to watch it. I won't tell you what's in the whole video, but I will say that he hasn't stopped making a motorcycle sound since we got back! Click here for movie and choose "The Stunt Man" video.

Ya'll need some Vietnamese people at your church! :)
There's a documentary playing at the Tribeca Film Festival called "Journey into Sunset." It's about Don Cheadle taking his family to Uganda, to the same village shown in the documentary you showed this summer. It looks worthwhile.
love the videos..."wavia" is quite a masterpiece...and we're glad to see that jack isn't the only little boy who thinks running into walls is hilarious!
