Two Kinds of People

Disclaimer: This is originally my wife's blog idea, but she said I could have it.

You've heard it said "There are two kinds of people in the world..." What usually follows is meant to offend half the audience the person is talking to. But if you really look at it each of us have our own kind of fundamental experience that puts us in different "camps" compared with other people.

Let me give you an example. My wife has been to summer camp since the age of eight. She loves camp and everything that surrounds it. In fact she has helped me lead Camp Shiloh over the last nine years. It is so interesting when we meet people who have never gone to camp before. They can't relate to camp romances, camp songs, hikes, camp pranks, arts and crafts, camp drama, etc. If a person hasn't ever gone to a camp before I think their outlook on life is vastly different than a person who has been to camp.

So to both my readers, what is a fundamental "There are two kinds of people..." statement for you. Lets stay away from the obvious ones like male/female, gay/straight, religious/non-religious, married/single, parents/non-parents...those are easy. I want some creative ones with some explinations. So to kick things off I will start with this...

"There are two kinds of people in this world, people who go to dance clubs and people who don't!" People who go to clubs have no problem dropping hundreds of dollars till the wee hours in the morning on drinks and cover charges. People who don't go to clubs (me) think a late night is staying out with friends at a dinner until 11pm. People who go to clubs say they go for the music, but really its to find that one "needle in a haystack" guy or girl like in "Singles". People who don't go to clubs are responsible (cheap), probably married young, and think "today's music" isn't nearly as good as Aerosmith, New Order, Erasure, The Cure, and Depeche Mode.

There are two kinds of people: Thow who can appreciate the story and flow of a movie and need absolute silence in order to not miss any of the special details the director has embedded into his work of art.... and those who see no problem asking plot-related questions every five minutes. ("Is he gonna get caught?" "Did they see her do that?" "What just happened?" "Wait, I don't get it...")

What's hilarious about the comments above is that the reader can tell which "camp" the author is in by way of the descriptives! I must give kudos to the secondary statement of Kate's: white lights v multi-colored lights. Hmmm, which is she?

Here's mine: "There are two kinds of people in this world: those who like golf and those who don't."

I've never discussed golf with you Joe, but I'm inferring from your comment that you are the kind who does not like golf... am I right? If so, you're crazy :P

Oh, and Kate likes white lights on a Christmas tree... how sick is that???

There are two kinds of people - at least in Texas - those who like the horns (smart) and those who like the aggies (not smart).

There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who would eat elephant poop for $1000 and those that wouldn't for all the money in the world. The ones that would are cheap money hoarders that stick to a strict budget every month and constantly think about what's the next thing they'll spend their money on or not spend their money on. And the ones that wouldn't don't spend much time thinking about money and the good things that it can be used for like helping the poor. And they're also probably big whiny babies.

I like being the counter so I must disagree. Gal 3:28, "28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." There is only one kind of person and that is mankind made in the image of God. Any social distinction is an unatural social construct as fake as Santa Claus. There was a time when I too believed in Santa, but I have since then come to realize the truth. People need to stop being divided and start finding ways to be united. One way to be united to recoginze everyone as a member of one race, the human race.

Oops. I accidentally removed my original post. Oh well. It was only about pooting anyway.
