Senior Pictures

That's right it's time for "senior pictures" to start making the rounds to family, friends, and other potential sources of graduation gifts. My sister-in-law was in town last weekend and she was showing me and Allison some different photographers that she was considering taking her senior picture, even though it's a year away. The picture above was one of the sample pictures that Keith Sturch, a photographer in Bentonville, AR, gave on his website. The picture is just fantastic, for so many reasons! Who uses a GUN as their senior picture prop!? I bet some of my kids would have liked to, except the gun would be pointed at the camera instead of in the air. If you click on the pic you can see other senior picture samples and, man will it take you to back in the day!

Talking with my siseter-in-law made me think back to my senior picture. My pictures, as I look at them now, are funny. I wore something trendy, preppy, and I look like I am just begging to get beat up. Of course I am really not that fashionable (see Cell Phone Belt Clip Post), but did I really have to part my hair and wear a cardigan sweater?! I didn't pose with anything, thank-goodness (uh wait...except for my girlfriend Eve - yeah I am being serious). My friend posed with his iguana, and other people I know posed with their car. So how did your senior pictures turn out?

I have linked a new blog named Erin-Lo. Check out this post about about cursing that she wrote. It's great.

I posed with my big, puffy, white-girl afro.

it seems like there's some sort of small movement within the Churches of Christ as it relates to the "art"of Christian cussing. It's a fun time to be among those in this interesting web of communication.

that is an incredible picture! the whole gun thing kind of catches you off guard at first. :) hope all is well in your area of the world. shalom!

Wow. I'm totally honored that you mentioned my blog, Jason!!! And speaking of senior pictures- I posed in a blue blazer with gold and silver trim and big pink flowers all over it. WHAT was I thinking????

I'm from the south and that picture disturbed me. It's not even a hunting rifle, it's a Dirty Harry "Go ahead, make my day" kind of weapon. Surely this sweet looking girl saw the irony in a pretty girl like her swinging a canon like that.

With the school shootings of the past few years ... one at least in Arkansas... I feel that's a poor choice. I will look at Erin's blog sometime soon! As my dearly departed friend J. Paul DuBois said, "Cussin' is wrong, dammit!"
