The Picture Says it All
Allison, the semi-pro political pundit, picked up on a fundamental distinction between the content of Obama and Clinton's speeches last night. And it can be fully observed by looking at the image above (click for bigger image). Any guesses?

Hmm... not sure. I didn't watch Hillary's speech, so I'll have to guess from the pictures. Perhaps it's the dominant text in each of the pictures that reflects the distinction. Obama's rally shows that it is about "Change"; Hillary's rally shows that it is about ... well, "Hillary".

I think you and Allison should do a political podcast. We could call it...(insert funny title).
Nice work. I didn't pick up on it, until Allison pointed it out. Now it seems so glaring that I can't avoid it.
I would add that it's not just that CHANGE is the word, but that the CHANGE that's happening is bigger than the candidate that's running. The inference is that the person holding and viewing the sign is the source of the change. Obama's name is only faintly visible on the card and it appears as his website and that's all. Pretty amazing non-verbal if you ask me.
Then looking at Hillary's it's all about Hillary. What she can do for you. What she will get done on her own. How we can rest assured because she has it under control.
Not for me, I would like to participate and take some responsibility myself thank you very much.
Jason and Allison...just to let you know that the battle has started "officially" here in Texas. I saw my first (of many) political ads last night. Just thought I'd let you know what was going on in your home state!!
Thanks for the update. I encourage you to embrace the season even though it can be tiresome and uncomfortable. Don't giveaway to cynicism that says your vote doesn't count. It does and so does how you use it.
Of course I hope you use it for Obama, but I will take an informed and honest vote for another candidate as opposed to no vote at all.
I saw Clinton and Obama ads on TV today. Texas is so unused to this attention...
Hi Jason! I'm glad you are recommending The Field to everyone. Did you know that at Hillary rallies they often co-opt Obama's "Yes We Can" chant and instead yell "Yes She Can"?
